pink africa

Oakfield Farm, a wedding and conference venue of note just outside Johannesburg, hosted its annual Bridal Expo over the weekend of 22-23 January 2011. My colleague TJ Moore set up a richly decorated stand there for his company Chantek Floral Design, and I provided him with several cakes which elaborated on the themes he put on display there.

The delicate-pink cake is studded with marguerite daisies of the same colour with bling beads for the flower centres and edged with black peter-sham ribbons. It is draped with a beaded Zulu shawl, and is replete with a carved wood couple. A grand silver cake plate carries this voluptuous cake which is ideal for a large wedding party.

white simplicity

This classic, three tier, white cake edged with ice white satin ribbons holding a posy of purity roses, contrasted with the grey-blue thistle of eryngiums and a few sprigs of gypsophilla, is perfectly elegant for an intimate engagement party or a small stylish breakfast wedding. It is placed on a simple white porcelain stand.
